 My Experience Reading Poison Season

Reading Poison Season was an intense and emotional journey. The story’s haunting atmosphere and lyrical writing drew me into the world of Leelo and the mysterious forest surrounding her island. I was fascinated by the themes of isolation, belonging, and sacrifice, and how they reflected the struggles of growing up and choosing between loyalty and freedom. At times, the pace felt slow, but it allowed me to appreciate the author’s vivid descriptions and deep symbolism. By the end, I felt both heartbroken and inspired — heartbroken by the choices the characters had to make and inspired by their courage to challenge the limits of their world. This book left me thinking about how fear and tradition can shape people’s lives, and how love can sometimes be both a poison and a cure.
